Yoga nidra

Yogic sleep

12 British pounds
St Mary's church rooms, Overton, RG25 3HF

Service Description

Yoga nidra is a state of concious deep sleep. The class starts with 15 minutes of gentle pranayama- control of the breath to direct the prana (life force). Followed by 45 minutes of Yoga nidra in shavassana (corpse pose) position. This practise will guide you through connection of the breath to make room in your mind for relaxation and create awareness of the physical and energetic body. In meditation you will enter a deep sleep state but remain awake observing thought patterns, emotions, sensations and allowing them all to come and go. The practise will leave you with full awareness of the whole mind, enabling you to feel fully rested with connectedness to inside and outside the body. On a physiological level this practise calms the nervous system, reduces inflammation and aids healing and repair of body tissues. What you will need to bring: Yoga mat, 2 rolled towels/blankets one smaller and one larger, one blanket to cover the body, cushion/bolster to sit on.
